Will Tere Ishk Mein Conclude Bollywood’s 2025 Romance in Style?
The Rise of Romance in Bollywood
The unexpected success of Saiyaara and Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat has restored hope to the Hindi film industry, highlighting the appeal of romantic dramas once again.
Post-pandemic, many believed that action films were the only way to attract audiences. Even renowned actors like Shah Rukh Khan shifted to mass action cinema, raising concerns among romance enthusiasts. While films like Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani kept the genre alive, it was 2025 that truly reignited the spark for romance in Bollywood.
Romantic Films Experience a Resurgence
Saiyaara unexpectedly broke box office records as a romantic drama, delivering a fresh change in the genre. Other films also fared well, but Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat emerged as another surprise hit, nearly crossing ₹100 crores at the box office.
The success of these films conveys one clear message: audiences crave quality romance, and they are willing to flock to theaters if it’s compelling. With another romantic film poised to finish the year strong, the genre seems well on its way to a powerful comeback.
Will Tere Ishk Mein Continue the Trend?
As the last two months of 2025 unfold, a variety of films will release, including war dramas like Ikkis and romantic comedies such as De De Pyaar De 2. In this crowded cinematic landscape, Aanand L Rai’s Tere Ishk Mein stands poised to follow in the footsteps of Saiyaara and Deewaniyat, thanks to its strategic release and promotional efforts.
Starring Dhanush and Kriti Sanon, the film embraces the youthful romance niche that has previously yielded successes like Aashiqui and Rai’s Raanjhana. Following the triumphs of Saiyaara and Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, expectations for Tere Ishk Mein are high.
Trade expert Taran Adarsh states, “With the youthful passion showcased in Saiyaara and Deewaniyat, the anticipation for Tere Ishk Mein has never been stronger. With AR Rahman’s enchanting music promising to resonate deeply, it’s clear that 2025 belongs to romantic tales.”
Industry insiders believe that if Tere Ishk Mein performs well, it may inspire more filmmakers to invest in romance, a genre that holds substantial audience appeal. “Neither Saiyaara nor Deewaniyat were cinematic masterpieces. Yet, their ability to connect emotionally with the audience reveals the essence of what romance movies need today,” observes an exhibitor.
A Bright Future Ahead for Romance Films
Backed by T-Series and Colour Yellow Productions, Tere Ishk Mein is set to hit theaters on November 28. Its music has already begun generating excitement and anticipation. Following its release, another romantic drama titled Mere Raho, featuring Junaid Khan and Sai Pallavi, will debut, both hoping to ride the wave of momentum created by the successes of Saiyaara and Deewaniyat.
