During promotion for his film Aaryan, Vishnu Vishal opened up about challenges in Kollywood.
Tamil actor Vishnu Vishal has shared his thoughts on the lack of recognition from actors and producers in Kollywood, particularly after the success of his film Ratsasan in 2018. While promoting his upcoming project Aaryan, Vishnu expressed his frustration and emotional distress regarding industry support.
Vishnu Vishal discussed his experiences of being overlooked in Kollywood.
Struggles with Producers
Vishnu expressed discontent over the lack of acknowledgment in Kollywood, stating that he often faces an uphill battle to get projects approved. “For Gatta Kusthi, we saw six producers pull out at the last moment. In the case of Velainu Vandhutta Vellaikaaran, four producers changed, and for FIR: Faizal Ibrahim Raiz, three backtracked,” he noted. In total, nine films slated for him after Ratsasan were canceled.
Production Ventures
The actor shared his decision to step into production, feeling it was his only option to avoid being shortchanged. “After hits like Gatta Kusthi and FIR, I still had a three-year wait before my next film. That’s when I launched my own production house. Once I took the reins, I could get this movie out in just a year,” he explained.
Lack of Support from Peers
Vishnu also lamented about the absence of support from fellow actors, not just producers. “I’ve noticed that after my films do well, none of the actors I look up to reach out. They speak to my directors instead, which is disheartening,” he stated. Vishnu emphasized that these experiences affect him deeply.
Vishnu made his acting debut in 2009 with Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu and has since produced several films. This year, he produced the romantic-comedy Oho Enthan Baby, which stars his cousin Rudra and will also premiere on October 31, alongside his film Aaryan. Upcoming projects include Irandu Vaanam, Mohandas, and Gatta Kushthi 2.
