Two Additional Suspects Arrested in Ian Watkins' Stabbing Death Case

## Arrests Linked to Ian Watkins’ Death

Police have taken two additional suspects into custody in connection with the stabbing of Ian Watkins, the former singer of Lostprophets, who was previously convicted of sex crimes.

### Watkins’ Background

Watkins, aged 48, passed away earlier this month following an attack at HMP Wakefield prison in West Yorkshire, where he was serving a lengthy 29-year sentence. In 2013, he was convicted of several serious sexual offenses, including heinous acts against children.

### Details of the Arrests

Just a day after Watkins’ death, authorities arrested and charged two men, Rashid (Rico) Gedel, 25, and Samuel Dodsworth, 43, with murder. On October 21, West Yorkshire police reported the arrest of two more suspects aged 23 and 39, suspected of conspiracy to murder.

The names of the latter two men remain undisclosed, but police have stated that they will be interviewed and then released on bail, awaiting further developments in the investigation.

### Ongoing Investigation

James Entwistle, a senior officer from West Yorkshire Police, emphasized that extensive investigations into the murder are still underway. He mentioned, “These arrests are part of the ongoing inquiries. We’re keeping Ian Watkins’ family informed as the case progresses, although no immediate updates are expected.”

### Previous Attacks on Watkins

Watkins had faced prior violence while incarcerated at HMP Wakefield; in August 2023, he was stabbed by three other inmates who held him hostage for six hours before staff intervened.

### The Fall of Lostprophets

Before his arrest, Watkins and Lostprophets enjoyed massive success, selling over 3.4 million albums and producing hits like “Last Train Home” and “Rooftops.” The band’s career came to a sudden halt after Watkins was apprehended in September 2012, when police executed a search warrant at his residence, leading to the seizure of numerous electronic devices. He later admitted guilt to the sexual offenses, with the judge remarking that he had “plumbed new depths of depravity.”
