Top Men's and Women's Fashion Trends for Fall/Winter 2026-2027

During a well-attended seminar, Tatiana Aldrich, a client and trend consultant at the trend forecasting agency WGSN, shared three overarching trends for men’s and women’s fashion, detailing essential items that will shape the autumn/winter 2026/27 season. FashionUnited provides a summary of the key insights from her presentation.

1) Geo-logic

The first trend, Geo-logic, addresses the impact of climate change, where erratic weather patterns are becoming commonplace. This trend merges the traditional boundaries of autumn/winter and spring/summer, calling for wardrobes that are adaptable and suitable for all seasons. Earth-friendly fabrics and unique textures define this aesthetic, combining technology with nature for a fresh look.

Key colors in men’s fashion include Sepia, Transformative Teal, Steel Blue, Sea Kelp, Primal Green, and Amber Hale, offering practicality with a touch of surrealism. More vibrant colors like Tranquil Blue, Electric Sepia, Fresh Purple, and Electric Indigo also play a crucial role.

Menswear Themes

Off-Season focuses on versatile styles inspired by global influences, with sporty elements that transition seamlessly between seasons—longevity is essential.

City Prepper emphasizes adaptability and quick-dry features suitable for unpredictable urban weather. “Think of layering that works for commuting and office settings,” suggests Aldrich.

Phantasmagoria explores creative experimentation, reflecting the unpredictability of the environment in both fashion and technology, hinting at surreal and bizarre elements that challenge conventionality.

Womenswear Themes

In women’s fashion, key colors include Red Earth, Green Glow, Primal Green, and Electric Indigo, which blend vibrant hues with earthy tones. Aldrich notes, “[The trend] captures how spring can blend into autumn and winter, showcasing winter silhouettes in summer colors.”

The Off-Season trend highlights hybrid designs and lightweight fabrics, while the Techminimal theme mirrors the refined yet practical aspects of menswear City Prepper, focusing on style that remains functional in changing weather. Post-Nature Party embraces hypertextures with an homage to nature.

“Geo-logic invites us to draw energy from nature and its mysteries,” Aldrich summarizes.

2) Kintentional

The Kintentional trend emphasizes historical richness and handcrafted designs that provide solace in an increasingly digital world. This trend encourages genuine connections with people and products, focusing on tactile, human-made aesthetics. “Expect a blend of craft-driven designs and emotional resonance,” states Aldrich.

Menswear explores micro trends like Restorative Comfort, Secret Tryst, and Modern Heritage, featuring muted colors like Olive Stone, Chocolate Sauce, and Classic Navy, paired with eye-catching brights such as Lava Red and Fresh Purple.

Menswear Themes

Restorative Comfort presents quilted shapes and soft textures influenced by loungewear, incorporating a hint of futurism for a cozy yet utilitarian feel. Secret Tryst explores a balance of confidence and vulnerability with decorative elements blended into traditional tailoring.

Modern Heritage connects craft with shared histories, starting with familiar shapes and transforming them through unique fabric techniques and textures, according to Aldrich.

Womenswear Themes

For women’s fashion, Kintentional highlights muted shades like Wax Paper, Pink Frost, and Olive Stone, alongside earth tones for a foundational wardrobe. The Restorative Comfort theme promotes well-being through enveloping silhouettes with varying textures. New Mod carries a rebellious spirit with bold and nostalgic designs, featuring mini dresses and retro coats.

The Renaissance of Real invites a return to craft, balancing historical richness with modern style. Expect rich materials like velvet and unique detailing for a luxurious finish, especially with an emphasis on cinched waists, a significant trend for the seasons ahead.

3) Empowered Play

This trend celebrates play as an expression of self, merging eccentric designs with everyday simplicity. Aldrich asserts that function and fun are blurring, offering an innovative approach to fashion. Sustainability is a core component, focusing on designs that are recyclable and extend the product life cycle.

Menswear Themes

In menswear, the themes include Power Play, Commutility, The Chic of the Norm, and Surreal for Real, showcasing a mix of bold hues like Crimson and Electric Orange along with more subdued shades. Power Play redefines tailoring as a confidence-boosting statement in contemporary wear.

Commutility centers on classic shapes that blend utility and style, while The Chic of the Norm aims to elevate everyday pieces with a touch of luxury. Surreal for Real puts a playful twist on traditional aesthetics, creating casual yet striking looks.

Womenswear Themes

Womenswear trends incorporate Playful Simplicity, Street-Storical, Cult Classics, and Jarring Pairings, emphasizing colors like Steel Blue, Bright Emerald, and Cherry Lacquer. Playful Simplicity refines minimal designs into impactful styles, while Street-Storical combines streetwear elements with historical aesthetics through bold patterns and contrasts.

Cult Classics shifts focus to durability and lasting design, drawing inspiration from nostalgic styles. Finally, Jarring Pairings embraces playful layering and contrasting textures for a youthful, expressive style.

Key Items

Aldrich concluded with essential items for both menswear and womenswear that shift toward modernity. In menswear, expect vintage aesthetics with textured fabrics and smart-casual staples like crewneck sweaters, oversized hoodies, and versatile half-zip tops. Trending pants include slouchy cuts, cropped styles, and baggy cargos, while outerwear will feature aviator jackets, trench coats, and slouchy suits.

Womenswear leans into contemporary silhouettes, with standout pieces like fleece jackets, floaty dresses, and tailored tops. Expect skirts in various lengths and styles, from fit-and-flare to A-lines, alongside relaxed tailored pants and versatile dresses suitable for different occasions.

Outerwear will showcase the evolution of the boyfriend coat into stylish raincoats, hyper-textured coats, and trendy track jackets.
