## Tomorrowland’s Resilience After the Fire

Tomorrowland is set to proceed as scheduled, despite a significant fire breaking out at the main stage on Wednesday, July 16, just a day before the much-anticipated EDM festival in Belgium was to start.

### Incident Details

Organizers shared the news on Instagram, stating, “Due to a serious incident and fire on the Tomorrowland Mainstage, our beloved Mainstage has been severely damaged.” Fortunately, there were no injuries reported from the fire.

As part of the festival’s schedule, the DreamVille campsite will open on Thursday, July 17, where numerous events and performances are planned. Additionally, other events in Brussels and Antwerp will continue as originally intended, according to the festival organizers.

### Festival Continuation Plans

The festival is set to run from July 18 to 20, with a second weekend planned from July 24 to 27. Organizers expressed, “We are focused on finding solutions for the festival weekend. More updates and detailed information will be communicated as soon as possible.”

Speaking at a press conference, Tomorrowland spokesperson Debby Wilmsen mentioned the dedication to building the main stage over the years. Wilmsen stated, “Tomorrow, 38,000 festival-goers will arrive. We’re really looking forward to that, and we’re going to give them a warm welcome. We’re going to make it a wonderful festival.”

### Stages Still Intact

Wilmsen reassured attendees that other stages for Tomorrowland remain “intact” and emphasized that although the main stage won’t be present, the production team is committed to delivering a remarkable festival experience.

Currently, the cause of the fire remains unclear. Some online videos captured what sounded like fireworks going off in the background while firefighters managed the situation. Sources indicated that something may have malfunctioned during the testing of fireworks cannons on the main stage.

### Fire Response

Local firefighter François van den Eynde reported that the fire “spread very quickly,” potentially due to the materials used in constructing the stage. He explained, “Despite all our resources, it was impossible to stop something like that. We tried to extinguish the fire, but as soon as you realize you’re not succeeding, you have to limit the damage to the rest of the festival site.”

### Tomorrowland’s Legacy

In its two-decade history, Tomorrowland has transformed into one of the largest and most celebrated music festivals globally, with last year attracting around 400,000 attendees. The 2025 lineup features many prominent EDM artists, including Swedish House Mafia, David Guetta, Steve Aoki, Dillon Francis, Deadmau5, and Eric Prydz.
