The Veils Set to Tour Australia
The Veils are gearing up to make their return to Australia this November, bringing the sounds of their latest album, Asphodels. This marks the band’s seventh studio release and promises to be an exciting event for fans.
Organized by Banished Music, the tour kicks off on Wednesday, November 5th, at Northcote Social Club in Melbourne, Victoria. On Thursday, November 6th, they will take the stage at Oxford Art Factory in Sydney.
About the New Album
Asphodels was recorded in a brief five-day session at Auckland’s Roundhead Studios. This new album features nine tracks and celebrates 20 years since the release of their debut album, The Runaway Found.
Finn Andrews on the Album
Frontman Finn Andrews shared his thoughts on the album, referring to it as a reflection of his extensive career in the music industry. “As always, I really just write about love and death – it’s a compulsion,” he noted. He added that this time feels distinct, built on a solid foundation.
Andrews hopes that the songs will resonate with listeners and aid them in processing significant themes, just as they have for him.
In a recent roundup of music from New Zealand, Asphodels was praised for its profound approach to love, life, and death. With intricate songwriting and fluid melodies, the album stands out as a remarkable addition to their discography.

The title Asphodels draws inspiration from a mythical flower and reflects themes found in the works of celebrated poets like Federico García Lorca, Ted Hughes, and Louis MacNeice, enhanced by orchestrations from Victoria Kelly.
With two decades of touring experience behind them, The Veils have collaborated with acclaimed directors such as Paolo Sorrentino, Tim Burton, and David Lynch. Fans can expect a mix of tracks from Asphodels and beloved hits from previous albums during their Australian performances.
