The Buoys Share Insight on Their Latest Single ‘Bitch’

The Buoys Release New Single “Bitch”
The Buoys have just unveiled their latest single, “Bitch,” as they gear up for their international and Australian tours.
Inspiration Behind the Track
Zoe Catterall, the lead singer and guitarist, shared that the song stemmed from her own experiences of being unfairly labeled for expressing her thoughts. She reflected, “I wrote this with my friend Alistair Hayes. That day, I was facing the all-too-common situation where people resort to calling you a bitch instead of taking responsibility for their actions. I aimed to keep a positive outlook, but on my way to the session, I grabbed a comfort snack and had a minor car bump. I ended up enjoying my hash browns while shedding a tear in the parking lot before heading to the session. What came out of it was this wonderfully chaotic song about being called a bitch—definitely not an easy situation, yet I’m thrilled the song carries a fun vibe despite that.”
Upcoming Tour Schedule
The Buoys are set to continue their European tour in September, with performances scheduled in Germany, the Czech Republic, Austria, the Netherlands, and several shows at Hamburg’s Reeperbahn Festival. They will make their way back to Australia in November for an exciting tour that includes stops in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Perth.
Critics have noted that “The Buoys’ Lustre has a certain shimmer to it, showcasing either youthful confidence or the indie guitar-rock vibes reminiscent of the ‘90s.” Their track “Unstuck” has become a standout, inviting listeners to enjoy its replayable energy.
“It’s a definite winner. The Buoys—an all-girl band, in case you missed that—secured feature album of the week on triple j with Lustre and took their music on the road throughout 2024. Led by the talented Zoe Catterall, The Buoys kicked off their debut UK and European tour in May 2024, performing at the Great Escape Festival alongside dates in Paris, Amsterdam, and Berlin.”
Whether you’re a long-time fan or new to their music, The Buoys’ fresh single “Bitch” is definitely worth a listen. It’s currently available through Sony Music.
