Teen Jesus & the Jean Teasers Unveil Their New Album, ‘GLORY’

Indie rock band Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers are set to release their sophomore studio album, GLORY.
Scheduled for release on November 7 via Mom+Pop Music, alongside Community Music in Australia and New Zealand, GLORY delves into themes of confidence, disgust, infatuation, and empowerment, all wrapped in a sound that invites you to strut.
This album marks a new chapter for the band, who describe it as embodying the feeling of heading home after a night out, with smeared mascara and a nearly dead phone.
The first single from the album, “MOTHER,” has been unveiled along with its official video, viewable below. The prior singles “BALCONY” and “UNSCARRED” also make an appearance on the album.
Mimicking nothing in their previous work, “MOTHER” begins with Western-inspired tones that soon erupt into fervor. This track features guitarist Scarlett McKahey taking the helm on lead vocals for the first time.
“‘MOTHER’ is for every brilliant, magical woman who’s found herself caught up in the chaos created by a man playing good,” the band explains.
“It captures the accumulated anger of witnessing exceptional women mistreated by inadequate men throughout history.”
Produced by Grammy Award-winning Catherine Marks in London, GLORY reflects the band’s essence.
During five intense weeks at a home studio on New South Wales’ Central Coast, McKahey, Anna Ryan, Jaida Stephenson, and Neve van Boxsel refined every nuance to ensure the songs resonated just as they envisioned.
Marks cultivated an atmosphere of empowerment, encouraging them to experiment freely while discarding anything that didn’t resonate, all aimed at achieving their authentic sound. Every vocal, instrumental element, and lyric was tailored precisely, showcasing their musicianship and delivering the impactful energy that fuels the album.
With over 450,000 streams on Spotify from their released singles, Teen Jesus has experienced remarkable growth since their debut EP Pretty Good for a Girl Band in 2022. Their standout single “Girl Sports” reached #55 on Triple J’s Hottest 100.
Their initial album I Love You (2023) climbed to No. 6 on the ARIA Charts, while “I Used to Be Fun” secured the #52 spot on the Hottest 100. The deluxe edition, I Love You Too (2024), introduced new tracks “Dull” featuring Softcult and “Please Me” with The Linda Lindas.
