Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers Unveil Bold New Single ‘BAIT’ and Tour Dates
## The Rise of Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers
Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers are known for their unique blend of charm and chaos. This Canberra-born, Melbourne-based band has established a reputation that’s both confident and edgy.
## New Beginnings
With their recent announcement for the Laneway Festival 2026 lineup, sharing the stage with artists like Chappell Roan, Wolf Alice, and Geese, the band is embracing a new chapter. They’ve just released their bold single, “BAIT,” and are gearing up for their largest national tour, promoting the upcoming **GLORY** album.
### An Exploration of Ego
“BAIT,” a track lasting just over two minutes, offers a piercing character analysis, characterized by a gritty bassline and a touch of cowbell. It’s penned from the viewpoint of “the worst person you’ve ever encountered”—the inflated industry figure who believes he’s invincible.
The band describes the single as “big ego, full menace mode.” They crafted it in Los Angeles, channeling the essence of a delusional man who sees himself as a divine gift. “It was fun to step into a persona we would likely loathe in real life,” they shared.
## The Album’s Essence
If you’re looking for cathartic music, the **GLORY** album, releasing on November 7 via Community Music / Mom + Pop, promises to deliver. This project reflects a spectrum of emotions, from confidence to disgust, infatuation, and power. It encapsulates the feeling of stumbling home at 3 AM, mascara smudged and phone battery low, replaying the night’s regrets—underscore this all with an indie rock vibe.
Produced by Catherine Marks—renowned for her work with Wolf Alice and boygenius—the album was recorded over five weeks on Darkinjung Land, on the NSW Central Coast. Marks encouraged the band to push boundaries and discard anything that didn’t resonate genuinely.
## Authenticity in Sound
From the sounds of “BAIT” and earlier singles like “BALCONY,” “UNSCARRED,” and “MOTHER,” it’s clear that this is Teen Jesus’ most authentic work yet.
Since releasing their debut EP **Pretty Good For a Girl Band** in 2022, which landed a spot in triple j’s Hottest 100 with “Girl Sports” at No. 55, the band has seen a steady rise. Their first album, **I Love You** (2023), reached No. 6 on the ARIA Albums Chart and earned them opportunities to tour with giants like Foo Fighters and Pearl Jam.
## Engaging with Serious Topics
Beneath the makeup and guitar riffs, Teen Jesus remains committed to navigating the music scene and its associated politics. They’ve supported Green Music’s No Music on a Dead Planet campaign, performed at the Rising Tide on Parliament House steps, and contributed to an inquiry regarding Australia’s live music industry.
### Upcoming Tour and Festival
As they prepare to showcase **GLORY** in Australia and New Zealand next May—featuring all-ages shows and their biggest venues to date—Teen Jesus continues to demonstrate the power of seizing opportunities.
Mark your calendars! Tickets for the **GLORY** tour will be available at 9 AM local time on Friday, October 17.
