Teddi Mellencamp Displays Brain Surgery Scars After Cancer Update

In an inspiring display of strength, Teddi Mellencamp graced the red carpet at the Women’s Cancer Research Fund gala in Beverly Hills, proudly showcasing her brain surgery scars. Ditching her wig, the 43-year-old embraced her natural look with a shaved head.

Smiling alongside former co-star Kyle Richards, Teddi wore a chic black pantsuit adorned with silver jewelry. As a former cast member of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, she has been openly battling melanoma since 2022, with her diagnosis escalating to stage four as the cancer spread to her lungs and brain.

Positive Health Update

Recently, Teddi shared a hopeful message regarding her health. In a heartfelt video on Instagram, she mentioned that she had just completed scans revealing a significant reduction in her tumors. “The crying is already done,” she expressed, adding that her doctors believe she could be on her way back to good health.

Immunotherapy Treatment

Mellencamp is currently finishing up two final immunotherapy sessions, which she hopes will lead her to be “cancer-free.” She described immunotherapy as a treatment method that leverages the body’s immune system to combat cancer.

“I’m gonna keep a positive outlook because that’s the way that my doctor just spoke to me,” Teddi affirmed. The encouragement from her healthcare provider has bolstered her resolve as she navigates this challenging journey.

Facing Challenges Head-On

Only weeks before her uplifting announcement, Teddi had candidly shared her worries about her prognosis. During an interview with Nightline, she expressed her desire to understand her odds, asking, “How long I got? What are my chances?”

While her doctors initially provided a 50/50 survival rate, they clarified that this was merely a reflection of the treatment’s history rather than a definitive outcome.

Mellencamp also shared her struggles with the side effects of treatment. An avid runner, she lamented the days when she could easily cover seven miles, now finding walking a mile to be a challenge.

“I like to have control, and this is completely out of my control. And for the first time, I’m really scared,” she admitted, reflecting on the emotional toll of her journey.
