The GoFundMe campaign was initiated when Lilah began her chemotherapy in March. Katelynn revealed that her daughter was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive stage 4 brain tumor after experiencing a seizure. The tumor was surgically removed, and she has been undergoing chemotherapy since.

In an August update, Smoot shared details about Lilah’s upcoming treatment, stating, “After [an MRI and LP], she will start 6 weeks of proton radiation, where our family will have to travel to [Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia] for her to receive.” The family has expressed gratitude for the support, emphasizing how crucial the donations have been to cover travel costs and everyday expenses while Lilah is in treatment.
