Tame Impala Drops Exciting New Single “Dracula”

Tame Impala Unveils Exciting Arena Tour Across the U.S.

Tame Impala has unveiled a new track from their upcoming album, Deadbeat. The song, titled “Dracula,” was introduced during Kevin Parker’s recent chat with Zane Lowe, where he discussed its evolution over time. Parker highlighted “Dracula” as a pivotal piece of the band’s latest work. You can listen to it below.

The announcement of Deadbeat came earlier this month, with a release date set for October 17th through Columbia Records, marking the band’s first album under this label.

Inspiration Behind the Album

A press statement describes Deadbeat as an embodiment of a “future primitive rave act,” drawing inspiration from the rave culture in Western Australia and the bush doof scene. The lyrics convey themes of self-reflection, portraying a character grappling with personal issues and the challenges of daily life.

Tracklist Highlights

Recently, Tame Impala revealed the tracklist for Deadbeat, featuring “Dracula” alongside two previously released singles. One of these singles, “Loser,” includes a music video starring Joe Keery from Stranger Things. The album concludes with the lead single, “End of Summer.” Below is the complete tracklist:

  1. “My Old Ways”
  2. “No Reply”
  3. “Dracula”
  4. “Loser”
  5. “Oblivion”
  6. “Not My World”
  7. “Piece of Heaven”
  8. “Obsolete”
  9. “Ethereal Connection”
  10. “See You on Monday (You’re Lost)”
  11. “Afterthought”
  12. “End of Summer”

Musical Evolution

“End of Summer” marks the band’s first new music since their 2020 release, The Slow Rush. This single also represents Tame Impala’s inaugural recording with Columbia Records. While “Loser” leans into a funky psych-pop style, “End of Summer” delves into deeper dance rhythms, reminiscent of late ’80s and early ’90s acid house.

It has been five years since The Slow Rush, which garnered five ARIA Awards and multiple Grammy nominations, making this upcoming album a highly anticipated release.
