Tame Impala Delivers First All-Acoustic Performance at NPR Tiny Desk
Tame Impala’s New Album and Unique Performance
Tame Impala has just launched their latest album, Deadbeat, and to celebrate, Kevin Parker and his bandmates performed an all-acoustic set at NPR’s Tiny Desk. This performance marks a special moment for the band, as it’s their first-ever entirely acoustic show.
Acoustic Performance Highlights
Using six acoustic guitars, one cleverly serving as percussion, Tame Impala played a 20-minute set. They kicked off with "Borderline" from The Slow Rush, followed by two new tracks from Deadbeat, titled "Loser" and "Dracula." They wrapped up the mini-concert with "New Person, Same Old Mistakes" from their previous album, Currents.
A Return to Tiny Desk
This Tiny Desk concert is significant for Tame Impala as it marks their second appearance on the show, yet it’s the first time they’ve physically been at the iconic location. Previously, during the isolation of the COVID pandemic, Parker performed a Tiny Desk At Home set, featuring songs from The Slow Rush, which was their last album until the recent arrival of Deadbeat.
New Visual Release and Upcoming Tour
Alongside this acoustic performance, Tame Impala also released a new visual for the album’s opening track, “My Old Ways.” The video adopts a cinema verité style, enhancing the connection to their latest work.
Later this month, Tame Impala is set to embark on a six-city U.S. tour to promote Deadbeat. Kicking off on October 27 at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, the tour will conclude on November 17 with three performances at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles.
