Suniel Shetty Takes Legal Action Over Unauthorized Use of Family Photos

Suniel Shetty raises legal concerns over unauthorized images

Actor Suniel Shetty has approached the Bombay High Court to protect his image and that of his granddaughter Evaraah. He alleges that numerous social media platforms and websites are using their photographs to promote businesses without proper authorization.

Suniel Shetty’s granddaughter Evaraah is the daughter of Athiya Shetty and cricketer KL Rahul.

In his interim application, Shetty seeks a legal order for the immediate removal of his photographs from these websites. He aims to prevent any future unauthorized use.

A recent hearing saw Justice Arif Doctor reviewing the situation, with Shetty’s attorney, Birendra Saraf, highlighting the presence of fake images that exploit both him and his granddaughter.

According to the plea, these images are being used for commercial purposes without consent, which poses a significant threat to Shetty’s reputation.

Saraf pointed out that both a real estate agency and a gambling website have displayed Shetty’s image, despite him having no affiliation with them.

Suniel Shetty emphasized his rights over his own likeness, insisting that the unauthorized use of his photos is harming his public image.

As a personal note, Evaraah is the child of Suniel’s daughter, Athiya Shetty, and her spouse, KL Rahul, further intensifying the emotional valence of this legal battle.

What are your thoughts on the misuse of celebrity images online? Would you support stricter regulations regarding the protection of personal likenesses?
