Stewart Copeland of The Police Takes His Spoken Word Show to Australia & NZ

Stewart Copeland is set to return to stages in Australia and New Zealand after 18 years. The iconic drummer will showcase his engaging spoken word performance titled, ‘Have I Said Too Much? The Police, Hollywood, And Other Adventures’, following a series of sold-out shows in the UK.
Copeland conveys his excitement about reconnecting with fans down under: “The demand for this intimate new show has far exceeded my expectations. I’m thrilled to come back to Australia & New Zealand next year and share the stories of my life with even more fans,” he mentioned.
Copeland’s Legacy
As one of the most impactful drummers in rock history, Copeland founded The Police with Sting and guitarist Andy Summers. His unique and driving rhythm was essential in the band’s rapid rise to fame during their active years from 1977 to 1986.
The Police’s impressive body of work led to their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Their legacy was further highlighted by a successful reunion tour that took place from 2007 to 2008, demonstrating their enduring influence in the music industry.
Diverse Musical Ventures
After The Police disbanded, Copeland expanded his musical horizons across various platforms. His impressive film score work includes collaborations with renowned directors, contributing to soundtracks for iconic films such as Francis Ford Coppola’s Rumblefish and Oliver Stone’s Wall Street and Talk Radio.
Upcoming Tour in Australia & New Zealand
This tour promises a rare level of intimacy, offering audiences a glimpse into Copeland’s diverse career. Renowned Perth radio host Sarah Tout will guide each show, ensuring an engaging experience.
For fans looking for a closer connection, Meet and Greet packages will be available, allowing attendees to interact personally with the legendary musician. Audience members will also have the chance to submit questions for Copeland to address during the performance.
Legal Matters
Recently, Copeland and The Police have made headlines due to ongoing legal disputes regarding royalties tied to their hit track “Every Breath You Take.” They are currently pursuing claims against Sting (whose real name is Gordon Matthew Sumner) and his publishing entity, Magnetic Publishing.
