This year’s 2024 Emmys featured a special theme: family. Many actors and presenters chose to bring their parents as guests, creating memorable moments throughout the ceremony.
A Star-Studded Evening
The 76th Primetime Emmy Awards unfolded at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, offering a stunning backdrop for patrons and nominees alike. Hosted for the first time by the father-son duo Eugene and Dan Levy, the event was filled with warmth and nostalgia.
Numerous stars, including Ayo Edebiri, Brie Larson, Lamorne Morris, and Taylor Zakhar-Perez, shared the spotlight with their parents on the red carpet. Witnessing the joy and pride of family members made the event all the more special.
Ayo Edebiri
Ayo Edebiri graced the red carpet in a custom Bottega Veneta gown showcasing a beautiful floral print. This was her second Emmy red carpet appearance this year, having brought her parents to the postponed 2023 ceremony as well.
During her acceptance speech, Edebiri expressed her gratitude to her parents: “Thank you so much for loving me and letting me feel beautiful and Black and proud of all that,” she shared. Her heartfelt message resonated with many.
Brie Larson
Oscar winner Brie Larson walked hand in hand with her mother, Heather Edwards, down the red carpet. The duo radiated happiness, captured beautifully for the cameras. Wearing a custom Chanel midi dress, Larson perfectly channeled the vibe of the ’60s, while her mother complemented her look with a stylish black midi adorned with sparkly sleeves.
Larson was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for her captivating role in Lessons in Chemistry.
Lamorne Morris
Lamorne Morris, a standout star from Saturday Night Live, celebrated his Emmy win with a touching tribute to his mother. Walking the red carpet by her side, he later thanked her during his acceptance speech, saying, “I also wanna thank God for my beautiful mother who raised me.” This heartfelt acknowledgment highlighted the significance of family support.
Taylor Zakhar-Perez
Taylor Zakhar-Perez, known for his role in Red, White and Royal Blue, brought along his mother, Antoinette. Dressed in a chic monochrome brown Gucci suit, he presented an award alongside Ebon Moss-Bachrach from The Bear.
The pair added humor to the evening with a brief advertisement for Johnnie Walker Blue Label before introducing the next segment.
