Spotify’s Support: Elevating Live Music Venues in NSW
Boosting Live Music Venues in NSW
NSW live music venues are experiencing a significant boost thanks to Spotify’s new initiative.
Introduction of Venue Pages
Today, Spotify announced the launch of its ‘Venue Pages’ feature in Sydney, making it one of the initial cities to benefit from this upgrade alongside major cities like New York, London, and Paris. This move comes after discussions between the Minns Labor Government and Spotify AUNZ.
Features of Venue Pages
Launching across nine countries, Venue Pages will provide NSW live music venues their dedicated space on the streaming platform. These pages will allow venues to list their gigs, offering fans a seamless transition from streaming their favorite artists to purchasing tickets for live events.
Key features include:
- Unique pages for venues that enable users to explore and save gig guides, show details, and new announcements.
- Direct links to official ticketing partners for secure ticket purchases.
- Upcoming marketing campaigns and educational sessions for NSW venues.
The NSW Government is committed to collaborating with Spotify AUNZ to enhance the rollout and will offer training to local venues to maximize this new feature’s potential.
Government Support
John Graham, Minister for Music and the Night-time Economy, expressed enthusiasm for Spotify’s endeavors. He noted, “We applaud Spotify for bringing Venue Pages to Australia and expect it to drive more local listeners to local gigs, which is great news."
Graham emphasized the importance of using Spotify’s global reach to support the local music scene, stating, “Streaming has sometimes hurt the local music scene, but this is a turning point where Spotify is increasing its support for it.” He added that local gigs play a crucial role in nurturing future talent in NSW music.
Importance of Venue Pages
Alicia Sbrugnera, Head of Music at Spotify AUNZ, conveyed the significance of this initiative: “Venues are the foundation of a thriving local music scene, so giving venues a home on Spotify means helping fans transition from streaming their favorite artists to seeing them live.”
The rollout of Venue Pages is an exciting opportunity for NSW, as it reinforces the bond between local venues, artists, and their audiences.
