South Korean Author Baek Se-hee, Writer of Tteokbokki Memoir, Passes at 35
South Korean writer Baek Se-hee passed away on October 16 at just 35 years old. She rose to prominence with her 2018 memoir, *I Want To Die But I Want To Eat Tteokbokki*, which details her discussions with a psychiatrist.
The memoir, which has sold over a million copies internationally, addresses Baek’s challenges with mental health and her journey of self-discovery.
Initially self-published on a crowdfunding platform in South Korea, the book’s success led to its acquisition by a publishing house, allowing for greater distribution.
The cause of Baek’s death has not been disclosed yet. However, the Korea Organ Donation Agency reported that she donated her heart, lungs, liver, and both kidneys after being declared brain-dead.
This selfless act enabled five individuals to receive life-saving transplants.
In a heartfelt statement, Baek’s sister remarked, “Knowing that my sister was someone who loved so much and couldn’t bring herself to hate anyone, I hope she can now rest peacefully in heaven.”
Isn’t it inspiring to see how her story continues to impact lives, even after her passing?
