Soulshine at Sea 3 Cancelled: Dispatch, Maggie Rose, and Others Withdraw

## Soulshine at Sea 3 Cancellation

Several artists, including Dispatch, Maggie Rose, Hirie, and Liz Vice, were initially set to participate in Soulshine at Sea 3. However, due to multiple withdrawals from the lineup, festival promoter Sixthman announced the cancellation of the event headlined by Michael Franti, originally scheduled for November 4-8.

“Given the circumstances, the Soulshine at Sea with Michael Franti event is canceled,” Sixthman stated. “We’re currently working on a new event for the same dates in 2025. More details are expected tomorrow.”

### The Cancellation Announcement

The festival was meant to take place on a cruise from Miami to Cozumel, Mexico, aboard the Norwegian Jewel, and included wellness workshops and culinary activities along with live music. Following the cancellation announcement, Franti acknowledged in a statement that he had a “relationship” with another artist outside of his marriage. He expressed his understanding of the public’s concerns but defended the consensual nature of the relationship.

“I firmly dispute any other interpretations of the story,” Franti elaborated. “However, I acknowledge my responsibility in not recognizing the power dynamics at play, given that she was younger and I held a headlining position.”

## Artist Withdrawals

Many of the withdrawing artists cited serious allegations made against an unnamed individual connected to the event. Dispatch declared their exit, expressing support for those affected. “We’ve become aware of deeply concerning public allegations regarding another artist and will no longer participate in Soulshine at Sea.”

Maggie Rose also announced her withdrawal, stating, “There were allegations made by a colleague about another artist, and I want to stand in solidarity with her.”

### Responses from Other Artists

Hirie shared her reason for withdrawal, saying, “While I’m not here to judge, I believe it’s essential to step back out of respect for all involved.” Liz Vice echoed similar sentiments, urging followers to support victims in these situations.

The news of these withdrawals circulated widely after musician Victoria Canal highlighted the situation, revealing her own experience with a “very powerful” figure in the industry who allegedly abused her.

Canal detailed her traumatic encounter, explaining that the alleged abuser manipulated her career opportunities while subjecting her to inappropriate behavior. “I had held this in for eight years; it has taken a toll on my mental and emotional health,” she expressed.

## Reflections on Power Dynamics

Canal’s narrative stressed the importance of safety and respect within the music industry, emphasizing that many individuals remain vulnerable to manipulation. Despite not naming her alleged abuser, she clarified that he was not one of her current mentors who have supported her since signing to a major label in 2022.

Such serious allegations have created an atmosphere of reconsidering relationships within the industry. Artists are now reflecting on their connections, emphasizing the need for accountability and activism.
