Soulja Boy Faces Weapons Charge Following LA Traffic Stop Arrest

## Soulja Boy’s Recent Arrest
Soulja Boy was taken into custody early Sunday morning after a traffic stop raised suspicions regarding his possession of a firearm as a convicted felon. The rapper, whose real name is DeAndre Cortez Way, was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped near the Melrose and Genesee intersection in Los Angeles around 2:50 a.m.
Following the traffic stop, police reportedly found a firearm in the vehicle. Way was subsequently arrested on felony charges and booked at the Los Angeles Police Department’s Wilshire Division.
### Details of the Incident
The Los Angeles Police Department stated, “A passenger was detained and police arrested DeAndre Cortez Way for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.” Earlier that evening, Way was celebrating his 35th birthday at Poppy nightclub in Hollywood. He shared highlights from the celebration on his Instagram Stories, showcasing himself dancing and declaring, “I don’t need no security.”
On the same day, he also debuted new music during a Twitch stream.
### Previous Allegations
In addition to recent events, Way has faced serious accusations of physical and sexual assault from former partners Kayla Myers and model Nia Riley, the daughter of musician Teddy Riley. He has appeared on reality television shows like *Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood* and *Marriage Bootcamp* alongside Riley.
Riley has previously shared her experiences, including a claim that Way threatened her with a firearm and caused a miscarriage by kicking her while she was pregnant. Myers, on the other hand, filed a lawsuit stating that their relationship ended after he allegedly held a gun to her head and assaulted her in February 2019. A civil court jury found Way liable for the assault and kidnapping of Myers in an earlier trial.
