Shah Rukh Khan returns as host of Filmfare Awards after 17 years
Shah Rukh Khan has been announced as the host of the 2025 Filmfare Awards, making a grand return after over a decade.
The upcoming edition of the Filmfare Awards will feature superstar Shah Rukh Khan hosting for the first time since 2008. The organizers revealed that he will co-host alongside Maniesh Paul and Karan Johar for the prestigious ceremony.

Filmfare announced the news via their official Instagram account, stating: “The Superstar, The Icon, The Enigma. Hold your hearts, because the one and only #ShahRukhKhan is co-hosting the most anticipated #70thHyundaiFilmfareAwards2025 with Gujarat Tourism, taking place on October 11 at Eka Arena, Ahmedabad.”
Over the years, Shah Rukh has hosted the Filmfare Awards on several occasions. Notably, he shared the stage with Saif Ali Khan in 2003 and 2004, and later co-hosted with Karan Johar in 2007. His last time as the main host was during the 53rd Filmfare Awards in 2008, where he entertained audiences with his charming humor. While he has made guest appearances since then, this marks his big return as the primary host.
Details on the 2025 Filmfare Awards
The 2025 Filmfare Awards will take place on October 11 at the EKA Arena, Kankaria Lake, Ahmedabad. This marks the 70th edition of these popular awards, and it’s the first time they’re being hosted in Gujarat following an agreement signed between the Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Limited and Worldwide Media Private Limited.
Last month, the nominations were unveiled, with Kiran Rao’s *Laapataa Ladies* leading the field with 24 nominations, while the action film *Kill* garnered 15 nominations.
