SG60 Fest Launches with Local Talents Lullaboy, Tasha Low, and Tyler Ten Surprise

With less than a month remaining until the nation’s birthday, the SG60 festivities are bustling throughout Singapore, offering an abundance of weekend choices. This weekend, the decision was clear for me.

My curiosity was piqued by the excitement surrounding Mediacorp’s Cloud 9 music festival, which had its first event earlier this year. It kicked off its return on Saturday (July 12) with a complimentary concert as part of the
It’s Giving Fest, a youth-driven initiative organized by Gov.sg.

Spanning two days at *SCAPE, It’s Giving Fest seeks to highlight the voices, aspirations, and ambitions of Singapore’s youth while encouraging them to engage in social and community initiatives. As someone within its target demographic, I truly felt its mission was accomplished.

The Cloud 9 concert featured a diverse lineup of local talents, including Lullaboy, Tasha Low, Alyph, Shye, and Ben Hum.

The evening commenced with performances by local DJs Kohsh and Kiara, who offered a lively mix of beats and remixes of iconic pop hits, like Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” and Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe.”

The energy was contagious, as the audience responded enthusiastically, jumping, waving glow sticks, and singing along—exactly as you would expect from a lively youth crowd, setting a vibrant tone for the night.

Another remarkable act was from Tasha Low. Just fresh from the Star Awards, where she won the Top 10 Most Popular Female Artistes trophy, she certainly captivated the audience. She performed her new single “Everything You Wanted” and later introduced a surprise guest for a duet.

It turned out to be Tyler Ten, her co-star from Emerald Hill, who recently won the Best Rising Star and Most Popular Rising Stars awards at the Star Awards. Who knew he had musical talent too?

The duo shared the stage to perform the theme song from their drama series, and fans were thrilled to see their on-stage chemistry, easily reflecting their on-screen rapport.

Before exiting the stage, Low hinted at another collaboration with Ten for an upcoming drama series, much to the delight of their enthusiastic audience.

Earlier that day, local busker Jeff Ng serenaded the outdoor crowd, performing popular songs like a soulful version of Taylor Swift’s “Love Story” and Bruno Mars’ “Just the Way You Are.”

It’s Giving Fest also showcased eight original short films and five songs created by youths centered on the theme of “building our Singapore together.”

Through the SG60 Flex Your Passion Open Call and Mentorship Programme, students from various Institutes of Higher Learning were guided by experienced film and music mentors, including He Shuming, Don Aravind, Tariq Mansor, Nicole Midori Woodford, Shazza, Lullaboy, and Shye.

“Events like these help us grow our confidence, especially when we see our work showcased to a wider audience. The entire community is here with us, and it feels great to see the support we get,” shared Krisha, one of the creators behind the short film “Lion Heart.”

The event also featured two cosplay runway shows. The first was organized by Pause for a Cause, Singapore’s inaugural cosplay volunteer community that uses cosplay to raise funds and bring joy, including hospital visits for children.

The second showcased a diverse array of cosplayers, each skillfully embodying beloved characters through meticulous costumes and makeup.

Acting Minister for Culture, Community and Youth, David Neo, remarked, “This SG60 festival is a showcase and celebration of our youth’s immense creativity and desire to give back to the community. This is part of the government’s effort to empower youth voices, a platform for them to express their passions and to lead in social and community actions.”

The festivities at It’s Giving Fest will continue on Sunday from 11 AM to 9:30 PM at *SCAPE, featuring a new lineup for Mediacorp’s Cloud 9 concert starting at 7 PM. Attendees can look forward to performances by local artists like Benjamin Kheng, Shazza, and Fariz Jabba.

It’s Giving Fest is organized by Gov.sg in collaboration with SG Youth Plan and Mediacorp Cloud 9.
