## Arrival of the Jury Note
On Wednesday, July 2, at 9:52 a.m., a pivotal note from the jury arrived during Sean Combs’ sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy trial. Combs’ legal team quickly huddled before heading to the holding room to bring him back into the courtroom. Upon entering, Combs exchanged a reassuring nod with his family, as if to convey that everything would turn out alright.
## The Verdict Process
After an intense 28 days filled with often harrowing testimonies and 13 hours of jury deliberations, a verdict was finally reached. Both Combs and federal prosecutors anticipated a decision that day, especially after the jury indicated the night before that they had a verdict on four of the five charges against him but were still deliberating on the racketeering count. Following Judge Arun Subramanian’s instructions, they returned to the federal district courthouse in Manhattan at 9 a.m. to conclude their work.
Early Wednesday morning, Combs had a brief appearance in court, spending some time reviewing documents with his defense team. By 9:30 a.m. ET, his mother Janice, along with six of his children and some of their girlfriends, filled the second row of the gallery.
### Family Support
Before heading back to the holding room, Combs took a moment to encourage his loved ones to “stay strong.” He led a brief prayer, stating, “God bless the jurors. God, please watch over my family.” The family responded with an enthusiastic “Amen” and applause before Combs was escorted away by U.S. Marshals.
## The Jury’s Decision
When the jury entered the courtroom to deliver their decision, Combs appeared both happy and confident. He read a passage from Psalm 11, which concludes with, “For the Lord is righteous/He loves justice/the upright will see his face.” His family, however, sat nervously behind him, anxiously awaiting the outcome.
As the jury delivered their verdict, Combs showed visible signs of nerves, which dissipated quickly when he heard the “not guilty” verdict on the racketeering charge. He exhaled deeply and pumped his fist in delight, eliciting gasps and cheers from his family.
### Mixed Results
Combs beamed with joy and disbelief as additional not guilty verdicts came for the two sex trafficking charges. Despite being convicted on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, he embraced his defense attorney, Teny Geragos, exclaiming, “We’ll be OK, I’m coming home.”
As the jury prepared to exit, Combs clasped his hands in gratitude, thanking them for their decision.
## Ongoing Legal Battles
The mixed verdict marks a dramatic conclusion to the high-profile trial. Since Combs’ ex-girlfriend Casandra “Cassie” Ventura filed a shocking lawsuit against him in November 2023, he has faced several challenges, including serious federal charges and a slew of civil lawsuits from various accusers. Though he swiftly settled Ventura’s lawsuit, numerous others still loom large.
Despite admitting to some wrongdoing, including domestic violence and drug use, Combs has consistently asserted his innocence.
### Potential Consequences
With two convictions under the Mann Act, Combs could be facing a prison sentence of up to 20 years—each count carrying a penalty of 10 years. However, it is speculated that Judge Subramanian may not impose the maximum punishment, especially given Combs’ clean criminal history. A sentencing date is yet to be scheduled.
At this time, Combs awaits a decision about his potential release on bond or remand back to custody as he navigates through the sentencing process. During the proceedings, he once again turned to prayer, reflecting on the gravity of the situation.
