Saya Gray Unveils First-Ever Australian Tour Dates

Japanese-Canadian artist Saya Gray has announced her exciting debut tour in Australia, scheduled for December. This tour marks a significant moment in her career as she makes her way to the continent for the much-anticipated Meredith Music Festival on December 5th. In addition to the festival, Gray will also perform in Sydney, Brisbane, and Melbourne.

At the Meredith Music Festival, she will share the stage with an impressive lineup that includes the Japanese girl group Atarashii Gakko!, indie pop sensation Perfume Genius, Syrian dabke-techno innovator Omar Souleyman, UK drill rapper Pa Salieu, and TV on the Radio.

Recent Work and Themes

The tour follows the release of her latest album, SAYA, which debuted in February through Dirty Hit. This deeply personal work captures themes of identity, dislocation, and hyperstimulation, showcasing a newfound clarity that builds on her previous efforts. Gray’s artistry feels almost confrontational, reflecting the rawness of her experiences.

Her unique sound is characterized by fragmented samples, voice memos, layered guitars, and unpredictable shifts in form. Gray’s music flows like fleeting thoughts—intimate, scattered, and sharp. Previous projects, including 19Masters (2022), QWERTY I (2023), and the forthcoming QWERTY II (2024), showcase a similar approach, embracing a rawness that resonates deeply with her audience. As she describes it, there are “1000 personalities in one song.”

Additional Tour Dates

Before her Australian tour, Saya Gray will perform in Wellington, New Zealand, on November 28th, followed by a appearance at The Others Way festival in Auckland on November 29th. This festival will feature artists like Sharon Van Etten & the Attachment Theory, The Phoenix Foundation, W.I.T.C.H., and High Dependency Unit.

After wrapping up her Australian performances, Gray is set to travel to Tokyo, Japan, for a concert at duo MUSIC EXCHANGE.
