Mumbai: Shahana Goswami’s film ‘Santosh’ is set to begin its digital journey. The movie, which was previously showcased at the Cannes Film Festival, will premiere on Lionsgate Play on October 17.
Shahana expressed that ‘Santosh’ is a project extremely dear to her. She remarked, “It’s a beautifully crafted narrative that holds up a mirror to our society. Sandhya Suri, the writer and director, has truly created something impactful. The film premiered globally starting at Cannes in 2024 and has received acclaim from both critics and audiences.”
She continued, “All the cast members of ‘Santosh’ shine, but I wish to highlight Sunita Rajwar who has brilliantly portrayed a complex character. Watching her transform into Geeta Sharma was a fantastic experience. I eagerly await for viewers in India to finally see the film.”
As noted in a press release, ‘Santosh’ follows the story of a young widow who assumes her deceased husband’s police position due to compassionate appointment. What begins as a nominal role quickly evolves into a critical investigation of a Dalit teenager’s rape and murder. Alongside Inspector Sharma, she navigates a corrupt system where justice is often overshadowed by prejudice.
Directed by Sandhya Suri, ‘Santosh’ is produced by Good Chaos, Cinefrance Studios, and MetFilm Production, and also stars Sunita Rajwar. (ANI)
