Insights on the Defamation Case

In a recent press conference, Sameer Wankhede shared insights about the ongoing drug issues in Mumbai. “We must raise awareness about drugs and their increasing usage, particularly in certain areas of the city,” he emphasized.

When questioned about his defamation case concerning The Ba***ds of Bollywood, Wankhede remarked, “I prefer not to discuss specifics, except to say that ‘satyameva jayate’ implies truth will always win.” Interestingly, a character in the series uses this phrase, which Wankhede claims is based on him.

Details on Wankhede’s Legal Action

For clarification, Wankhede has initiated legal action against Aryan Khan, Netflix, and Red Chillies Entertainment in connection with the series release. During a recent court session, the Delhi High Court deemed Wankhede’s complaint as unviable, expressing, “Your claim lacks merit.”

Wankhede had sought ₹2 crore in damages, which he intended to donate to a cancer hospital. He accused the series of being “false and defamatory,” highlighting a scene where a character allegedly based on him uses the phrase “satyameva jayate” while making an inappropriate gesture.

It’s important to note that Wankhede played a significant role in the case against Aryan Khan, who was cleared of charges regarding drug-related activities in Mumbai back in 2021. The Ba***ds of Bollywood marks Aryan’s directorial debut, now available on Netflix.
