"Sameer Wankhede Labels ‘The Ba***ds of Bollywood’ a ‘Revenge’ Against Aryan & Shah Rukh"
Sameer Wankhede Responds to Red Chillies’ Defense
Sameer Wankhede has challenged the assertion made by Red Chillies Entertainment, stating that their series, *The Ba***ds of Bollywood*, is merely a satire and does not defame him. Wankhede, a former IRS officer, argues that the web series serves as a ‘calculated hit job’ against him. He filed a rejoinder in the Delhi High Court, dismissing Red Chillies’ claims about the show’s intent.
Details of the Defamation Suit
In his petition, Wankhede contends that a character in the series closely resembles him, projecting a negative image. He refers to specific elements like the character’s likeness, mannerisms, and even the use of his signature phrase “Satyamev Jayate,” suggesting that this amounts to a deliberate effort to tarnish his reputation.
The series, directed by Aryan Khan and produced by his father’s company, Red Chillies, argues that it portrays a situational satire that does not directly reference Wankhede. They describe the defamation claim as misconceived and meritless.
Wankhede Claims It’s Personal Revenge
Wankhede has further emphasized that *The Ba***ds of Bollywood* is not satire but rather a methodical attack targeting him. He points to their historical conflict, referencing the 2021 drugs case where Aryan was arrested, with Wankhede leading the investigation. Although Aryan faced three weeks in prison, all charges were eventually dropped.
Calling the series a vehicle for revenge, Wankhede argues that the defendants should not use artistic expression as a shield for their actions. In response, Red Chillies maintains that removing controversial scenes would disrupt the narrative flow of the show, which has been on Netflix since September 18, 2025.
The Delhi High Court has instructed all parties to submit their written arguments, scheduling further discussions for November 10 before Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav.
