Sameer Wankhede Clarifies Aryan Khan’s Role in Drug Case and Chat Leak Rumors
Sameer Wankhede Addresses Controversies
In a recent interview, Sameer Wankhede, the former Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) zonal director, firmly denied the claim that Aryan Khan was a “bali ka bakra” in the high-profile drug case that emerged in 2021. This case attracted widespread media attention when Shah Rukh Khan’s son, Aryan, was arrested during a raid on a Goa-bound cruise ship.
The Narrative of the Drug Case
During his chat on the Mama’s Couch YouTube channel, Wankhede mentioned that he signed an affidavit for the Bombay High Court, promising not to discuss the case publicly. However, he addressed queries regarding Aryan’s 25-day detention without drugs found in his possession. Wankhede asserted that legal actions can and do occur without direct possession, underscoring that the drug supply chain involves multiple parties, each of which may be subject to legal scrutiny.
He stated, “People think that if no drugs are found, there should be no arrest. However, it’s important to consider that those producing and distributing drugs also fall under the law’s remit,” highlighting the broader implications of drug-related offenses.
Allegations and Defenses
Responding to inquiries about whether Aryan was a scapegoat, Wankhede firmly stated, “There is no scapegoat in this.” He emphasized that the investigations rely on comprehensive evidence that includes electronic data and witness statements.
Wankhede was also accused of unlawfully leaking conversations he had with Shah Rukh Khan. Defending himself, he asserted that suggesting he leaked information was misleading, stating, “It’s not my habit to disclose sensitive information.”
Controversial Developments in the Case
In October 2021, Aryan was implicated during the NCB operation on the cruise ship, which was en route to Lakshadweep. Following his arrest, he spent over three weeks in jail before ultimately receiving a clean chit.
Recently, Wankhede also initiated a defamation lawsuit against Aryan and Shah Rukh Khan related to their Netflix series, which he claims contains defamatory content about him, seeking ₹2 crore in damages.
As this situation continues to evolve, will these developments change public perception around Aryan Khan and the drug case?
