Sam Fender’s Australian Tour Continues After Festival Cancellation
Sam Fender has officially announced that his upcoming tour in Australia will proceed next month, despite the recent cancellation of the Changing Tides festival, where he was scheduled to headline.
Fender was set to join a stellar lineup alongside artists such as Noah Cyrus, The Rubens, Skegss, and MAY-A. Unfortunately, festival organizers confirmed last week that it would not be making a return in the coming years.
Following this news, Cyrus also decided to cancel her tour in Australia, which led many fans to speculate whether Fender would do the same. Fortunately, he reassured everyone that the show must go on!
Tour Dates and Locations
The tour will kick off in Melbourne with two performances, followed by stops in Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide, and Perth next month. Tickets for his Adelaide concert are still up for grabs, and due to high demand, additional tickets have just been released for his sold-out Sydney and Melbourne shows.
Alongside special guest Holly Humberstone, who was also slated to perform at Changing Tides, Fender will feature emerging Australian acts—Esha Tewari, Beddy Rays, Sycco, and Day We Ran—at various performances.
Fender’s Recent Success
Arriving in Australia fresh off a successful period, Fender’s third album, *People Watching*, soared to the top of the UK charts. It has quickly become the fastest-selling UK album of the year, further establishing his position as a leading rock artist in the UK.
This album earned him a third BRIT Award for Best Rock/Alternative Act and was also recognized as triple j’s Feature Album in Australia. The exciting momentum continues with the announcement of a deluxe edition of *People Watching*, scheduled for release on December 5th through Polydor Records. This special version will include eight additional tracks, featuring “Talk To You” (ft. Elton John) and his hit collaboration with Olivia Dean, “Rein Me In.”
*People Watching* follows Fender’s breakthrough second album, *Seventeen Going Under*, which propelled him to greater fame in 2021. That album also topped the UK charts and received a Mercury Prize nomination the following year, which he ultimately won.
