Salman Khan Pays Tribute to Asrani, Remembering Him as a Comedy Icon

Veteran Bollywood actor Govardhan Asrani, belovedly called Asrani, passed away on Monday at the age of 84, following a prolonged illness. In response to the news of his passing, various stars from Bollywood expressed their condolences on social media.

Salman Khan’s Touching Message

In a heartfelt message shared on his X account, Salman Khan expressed his grief, writing, “Saddened to hear of Asrani Ji’s demise. A true legend of laughter. #RIP.”

Numerous Bollywood personalities, from Akshay Kumar to Aamir Khan, paid tribute to Asrani. Manoj Bajpayee shared, “Deeply saddened by the passing of Asrani Sir. Working with him in Dus Tola was a privilege. His warmth, humour, and humility will always stay with me. I learnt so much from our conversations and from his passion for teaching and the craft of acting. Om Shanti.”

Asrani’s Last Days

Asrani breathed his last on Monday, leaving behind a legacy that spanned more than five decades in Hindi cinema. Renowned for his remarkable comic timing, he appeared in over 350 films. His portrayal of the jail warden in the 1975 classic film *Sholay* stands out as a cultural milestone in Indian pop culture.

His manager, Babubhai Thiba, confirmed that Asrani passed away at 3 PM at Arogya Nidhi Hospital in Juhu, Mumbai. He is survived by his wife, sister, and nephew. The couple had no children.

In recent years, Asrani featured in various projects like *Bhool Bhulaiyaa*, *Dhamaal*, *Bunty Aur Babli 2*, *R… Rajkumar*, and *Welcome*.
