Ravi Mohan Experiences a Legal Setback Over Bro Code at Delhi HC

After a favorable ruling from the Madras High Court about his film titled *Bro Code*, director Ravi Mohan recently faced a setback at the Delhi High Court.

Legal Restraint on Bro Code Title

The Delhi High Court has ordered Ravi Mohan Studios to refrain from promoting their upcoming movie using the title *Bro Code*. This decision stems from a trademark infringement lawsuit filed by IndoBevs, which already holds the BroCode trademark for alcoholic beverages. The court acknowledged that the brand is well-known and closely linked to the company.

Furthermore, the court noted that *Bro Code* is nearly identical to IndoBevs’ trademark, which could mislead consumers.

While Ravi Mohan’s legal team pointed to a previous interim order from the Madras High Court, the Delhi HC dismissed this argument. It was determined that the existence of an unresolved threat suit doesn’t impede the court from issuing an injunction in cases of infringement. Until the final decision is made, the studio must either drop or modify the title for promotional activities, according to an order dated October 14, 2025.

IndoBevs’ Legal Actions Against Ravi Mohan

IndoBevs argued in court that they introduced the BroCode beverage in 2015 and have established a significant market presence. They also pointed out that the trademark is registered in multiple categories. In 2025, the company ventured into entertainment, launching *BroCode Roast* on YouTube, which gained over 200 million views, along with a music video titled *BroCode: Onam Ulsavam Song*.

In September, IndoBevs became aware of Ravi Mohan’s promotion of a film named *Bro Code*. Despite several discussions and a cease-and-desist notice issued on October 4, the studio continued to circulate promotional content. The court has mandated the studio to respond within four weeks, with the next hearing scheduled for December 23, 2025.
