Ranbir Kapoor’s Potential Role as Ravana: Sadhguru’s Take on Ramayana Casting
Sadhguru addresses the criticism directed at Ranbir Kapoor following his casting as Lord Rama in Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming film, *Ramayana*.
The excitement was palpable when it was announced that Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor would portray Lord Rama in Nitesh Tiwari’s film *Ramayana*. While many fans celebrated the casting, a portion of the audience expressed skepticism due to Kapoor’s past roles and public persona. Despite his first glimpse in the film’s teaser shifting some perspectives, doubts lingered, especially with his co-stars Sai Pallavi and Yash.
In a recent conversation, *Ramayana* producer Namit Malhotra described the backlash against Kapoor as “unfair.” Sadhguru defended the actor’s role, stating, “Judging an actor based on a role they’ve played is not fair. One day he’s Rama, and the next, he could be cast as Ravana in another project.” He also praised Kannada star Yash, referring to him as a “handsome man.”
Namit echoed Sadhguru’s sentiments, highlighting Yash’s talent and popularity, emphasizing that the character of Ravana requires a nuanced portrayal.
Ravie Dubey, who plays Lakshman, also shed light on the dedication of the cast, mentioning that Ranbir has adopted a vegetarian lifestyle and is following a strict diet to fully embody his role. The film, *Ramayana: Part 1*, is set for a Diwali 2026 release, with a sequel, *Ramayana: Part 2*, planned for 2027.
