Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan Team Up for Upcoming Film: Director TBA

Rajinikanth confirms film with Kamal Haasan is in the works: ‘The director has not yet been decided’
Rajinikanth shares updates on upcoming project with Kamal Haasan.
Fans of Tamil cinema have long yearned for the on-screen reunion of Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. After years of anticipation, Rajinikanth recently confirmed that discussions have been ongoing for a collaborative film. The two superstar icons have historically worked together in numerous films such as *Apoorva Ragangal*, *Moondru Mudichu*, *Avargal*, and *Pathinaru Vayathinile*.
Rajinikanth’s Remarks
After Kamal’s announcement regarding their collaboration, Rajinikanth confirmed the news, stating they are indeed in discussions for the upcoming film. At a recent press gathering at the Chennai airport, he revealed, “We will be working with Raaj Kamal Films International and Red Giant Movies. The director hasn’t been chosen yet. Kamal and I are eager to collaborate when a suitable story emerges.”
Raaj Kamal Films International is the production house established by Kamal Haasan, while Red Giant Movies is founded by Udhayanidhi Stalin, who is both an actor and a politician.
Kamal touched upon the project earlier this month during his acceptance speech at the SIIMA Awards. He remarked, “We don’t yet know if this will be a remarkable occurrence, but we hope the audience enjoys it. This has been a long time coming. We have often been separated by circumstances, yet this collaboration brings us back together.”
No Rivalry Between Them
Kamal further clarified, “Many created the notion of rivalry. There is no competition between us. It’s crucial to have this opportunity. Both Rajinikanth and I have aspired to produce each other’s films.”
The last time audiences saw Kamal was in Mani Ratnam’s *Thug Life*, which received mixed reviews upon release. Rajinikanth’s last appearance was in *Coolie*, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, released in theaters last month and is now available on Amazon Prime Video.
