Rahull Bhuchar Discusses Playing Lord Ram Amid Adipurush’s Setbacks
Rahull Bhuchar on His Role as Lord Ram
Moving Forward Despite Adversity
Actor Rahull Bhuchar has chosen to step away from mainstream Bollywood to explore the narrative of Lord Rama through his play, “Humare Ram.” He acknowledges that he faced considerable skepticism, especially in light of the backlash against the film “Adipurush.” Many advised him against pursuing this story due to its recent failure.
Facing Doubts Head-On
Rahull, known for his roles in films like “Mom” and “Resurrection,” performed as Lord Ram in “Humare Ram,” which debuted in New Delhi on January 25, 2024. His subsequent performances have taken him to diverse locations, including Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, and Dubai.
“Many told me not to proceed with this play about Lord Rama, fearing backlash,” Rahull explained. He emphasized that this play is not merely a religious tale, but an exploration designed to answer people’s queries regarding Lord Rama’s life and the larger epic narrative.
He faced repeated questions about his commitment to the play, especially given the poor reception of “Adipurush.” However, he reassured critics that his motivation was not financial but deeply rooted in a passion for the story. “We incorporate characters like Luv and Kush to facilitate these discussions on stage,” he added.
Integrating Modern Themes
Rahull has also infused contemporary themes of gender equality into the play to enhance its relevance. “While discussing women’s safety and feminist concerns is crucial, it needs a nuanced approach,” he stated. He is currently in the process of developing another play centered around Lord Shiva, titled “Humare Shiv.”
