On Diwali night, actor and poet Priya Malik experienced a terrifying moment when her Anarkali dress caught fire, leading to what she described as a “near-death scare.” Tragically, she also lost her engagement ring in the chaos.
Describing the harrowing incident, Priya said, “Never in my life have I faced such a situation. I am a mentally strong person, but this has shaken me to the core.” The horrifying memory of the flames engulfing her is something she won’t forget.
Reflecting on the moment, Priya recounted how the disaster unfolded during a family celebration at her Bandra home. “I was wearing a flowy Anarkali suit, and it caught fire from a diya behind me,” she explained.
In the frenzy, Priya’s parents shouted for her to get help. “I instinctively tried to remove my dress. However, it got caught on my head. Thankfully, my father assisted in taking it off,” she shared. Her mother provided her with a dupatta for modesty, highlighting the family’s swift response.
They rushed her to a nearby hospital, where she learned she had superficial burns. Although her artificial hair was damaged, her natural hair remained safe. “I have burns on my shoulder, back, and fingers, but they will heal soon,” she reassured.
The most significant loss for Priya was her engagement ring. “Despite searching thoroughly, we couldn’t find it. As they say, misfortunes take something away, and perhaps, for me, it was the ring,” she said with a hint of resignation.
After sharing her story on Instagram, Priya received an outpouring of support from fans. “I didn’t realize how dangerous such incidents could be until I experienced one,” she commented, emphasizing the importance of caution during festive celebrations.
