Prakash Raj’s Remarks
In the press conference, Raj shared his perspective on his role in the Kerala awards and Mammootty’s prospects at the National Film Awards. He stated, “I firmly believe that the National Film Awards are compromised. I appreciate being asked to chair the Kerala jury, where I was assured independence in decision-making.”
He further elaborated, “Such independence is lacking in the National Awards, where unfair practices seem prevalent. When files and piles are receiving accolades, it’s inappropriate to regard Mammootty as deserving of such recognition.”
Mammootty’s Awards History
Mammootty, an acclaimed actor, has previously clinched National Awards for Best Actor three times for his performances in films like *Mathilukal*, *Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha*, and *Ponthan Mada*. Fans have often voiced that he has been overlooked for many rewarding opportunities throughout his career.
This year, his win for *Bramayugam* marked his seventh Kerala State Award, the highest for any actor in this category, while the film *Manjummel Boys* was celebrated as the Best Film along with Best Director for Chidambaram.
