PinkPantheress Makes TV Debut
PinkPantheress graced the stage for her television debut on The Tonight Show, delivering an energetic medley of her hits. Joined by a DJ and a lively group of backup dancers, the British artist performed a dynamic mix featuring “Illegal,” “Girl Like Me,” and “Tonight.”
New Mixtape Release
These tracks are part of her fresh mixtape, Fancy That, which was released on May 9. This marks her first significant project in two years, following her debut album, Heaven Knows, from 2023. Notably, the track “Tonight” incorporates a sample from Panic! at the Disco’s “Do You Know What I’m Seeing?”
Thoughts on Sampling
Discussing her approach to sampling, PinkPantheress shared, “Everyone has their opinions about it. Some see it as unoriginal, which I faced when I started out. For me, sampling is an expression of my admiration and reinterpretation of something beloved.” She emphasized that she samples only what resonates with her, seeking to present it to new audiences rather than merely evoking nostalgia.
Upcoming Tour Plans
This fall, PinkPantheress will launch a brief North American tour titled An Evening With PinkPantheress. The tour will hit nine locations across six cities. Kicking off in October, she’ll perform two consecutive shows at Brooklyn’s Kings Theatre, followed by another pair at Toronto’s Massey Hall. Chicago will welcome her to the Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom before she takes the stage at the Wiltern in Los Angeles for two nights. The tour will wrap up with performances in San Francisco and Oakland in November.
Overcoming Challenges
After recently canceling all her scheduled 2024 shows due to health issues, she expressed her commitment to returning to the stage. PinkPantheress noted, “I needed to address something important, which required me to step away. It was a difficult decision for those looking forward to seeing me, but I’m optimistic about the future.”
