Pink Floyd Unveils Exciting 50th Anniversary ‘Wish You Were Here’ Box Set

## Anniversary of *Wish You Were Here*

Fifty years ago, Pink Floyd unveiled their iconic album *Wish You Were Here.* To commemorate this milestone, Sony is releasing a special box set titled *Wish You Were Here 50*. Fans can look forward to this collection in three formats: three vinyl records, two compact discs, or as a digital download.

This exciting box set includes a new Dolby Atmos mix of the album, nine rare studio recordings, and 16 tracks from a live performance at the Los Angeles Sports Arena on April 26, 1975. Additionally, it features a hardcover book filled with unseen photographs, a comic book tour program, and a poster from the Knebworth concert. One standout preview track is “The Machine Song (Demo #2, Revisited),” an early draft of “Welcome To The Machine.”

## What’s Inside the Box Set?

### Rare Tracks and Live Performances

Among the rare tracks included in this set are a new stereo mix of all nine segments of “Shine On Your Crazy Diamond,” an alternate version of “Have a Cigar,” and a rendition of “Wish You Were Here,” featuring jazz violinist Stéphane Grappelli. David Gilmour also lends his talent on pedal steel guitar for another version of “Wish You Were Here.”

The 1975 concert recording was skillfully captured by renowned bootlegger Mike “The Mic” Millard. Known for sneaking a Nakamichi 550 tape recorder into events using a faux wheelchair, Millard recorded flawless performances by numerous legendary artists. Interestingly, while other bands used complex recording setups, Pink Floyd opted for Millard’s authentic sound, favoring it over their own mixing efforts.

### Restoration and Remastering

The audio from this memorable performance has been thoroughly restored and remastered by Steven Wilson. Notably, Mike Millard passed away in 1994, never witnessing the official release of his remarkable recordings.
