Pendulum Unveils New Studio Album 'Inertia' After 15-Year Hiatus

## Pendulum’s New Album: Inertia

Perth’s electronic band Pendulum has just unveiled **Inertia**, their first full-length album in 15 years. This long-awaited release marks a significant moment for both the band and their fans.

### A New Direction in Sound

The album consists of 16 tracks that feature an array of collaborations, reflecting the band’s evolution over the years. Produced by Rob Swire and Owen Charles in their London studio, **Inertia** began to take shape in 2020, during a period of re-evaluation for Pendulum. This album follows their previous EPs, **Elemental** and **Anima**, which played a crucial role in steering their new musical direction.

### Exploring New Horizons

Rob Swire expressed his approach to this project: “I was basically testing how far we could push Pendulum,” he stated. He cited The Prodigy as a benchmark for evolution in music. “They started out as pure rave but then became their own sound. My goal was for Pendulum to follow that same trajectory, allowing us to explore whatever felt right, rather than being confined to genres like drum and bass or metal.”

### A Shining Legacy

Pendulum made a sizeable impact on the dance music scene in the 2000s. Formed by Rob Swire, Gareth McGrillen, and Paul “El Hornet” Harding, their debut album, **Hold Your Colour**, released independently in 2005, achieved remarkable success. With hits like “Tarantula” and “Fasten Your Seatbelt,” the album went platinum in the UK, surpassing 300,000 units sold.

Their versatility allowed them to perform at the 5,000-capacity Brixton Academy and major music festivals alike. In 2005, they also achieved a dream collaboration by remixing The Prodigy’s iconic track “Voodoo People.”
