Parkway Drive Creates Unforgettable Moment at Sydney Opera House
Parkway Drive’s Stunning Helicopter Stunt
Parkway Drive recently executed a breathtaking helicopter stunt above the iconic Sydney Opera House. The heavy metal band made headlines when lead vocalist Winston McCall rappelled from a helicopter directly onto the venue’s renowned sails. This thrilling stunt took place at dawn, strikingly landing on a 60-centimetre platform 65 metres high.
A Historic Performance
This aerial feat comes on the heels of Parkway Drive’s groundbreaking performance at the Opera House in June. During that unforgettable show, the band collaborated with a full symphonic orchestra for a unique, one-time experience.
Both the concert and the helicopter stunt will be featured in the band’s upcoming concert film, titled HOME. Produced by Hype Republic and directed by Allan Hardy and Macario De Souza, the film is set to hit theaters nationwide next year.
A Vision of Australian Identity
Winston McCall shared his vision for the performance, emphasizing their aim to redefine what Parkway Drive means in a distinctly Australian setting. “We wanted to build something which was a reconceptualisation of what Parkway Drive is in a place that’s very iconically Australian,” he explained.
He described the concert’s unique format: an all-seated, black-tie affair held on grass, with classical orchestral support. “It was the exact opposite of what you’d expect. We wanted to make something worthy of the moment,” he said.
An Unforgettable Experience
McCall noted the remarkable energy of the show, stating, “It was literally the loudest show that the Opera House has ever had before… you’re confined to seats. There’s no crowd surfers, there’s no barrier.”
This innovative approach and thrilling stunt highlight Parkway Drive’s dedication to creating unforgettable experiences for their fans.
