Drishyam, featuring Ajay Devgn, is based on a Malayalam classic with Mohanlal in the leading role. Both Hindi and Malayalam versions of Part 3 are currently in production.
Actor Paresh Rawal recently disclosed that he had the opportunity to join the cast of *Drishyam 3*, alongside Ajay Devgn, but ultimately decided against it. In a conversation with Bollywood Hungama, he noted that while the script was ‘impressive’, he was not excited by the role presented to him.
Paresh Rawal discussed Drishyam 3 with Ajay Devgn.
Paresh Rawal on Refusing the Role in *Drishyam 3*
Paresh mentioned that he did not find the offered role appealing. “Yes, they approached me. But I didn’t think the role was right for me. Maza nahin aaya (it wasn’t enjoyable) while reading my part. The script was quite good, which impressed me. However, you need to have excitement for your role, or else it won’t be enjoyable,” he stated.
Insight into the *Drishyam* Franchise
*Drishyam 3* features Ajay along with Shriya Saran, directed by Abhishek Pathak and produced by Kumar Mangat. This film is a sequel to the 2015 *Drishyam*, directed by Nishikant Kamat, and *Drishyam 2*, which came out in 2022. The original 2015 thriller is inspired by a 2013 Malayalam movie starring Mohanlal. Furthermore, Ajay is also working on the Malayalam adaptation of *Drishyam 3*.
The teaser for *Drishyam 3* was expected to release this month but has seen a delay. Reports cite that a prior agreement between the makers of the Malayalam franchise and the Hindi remake’s producer restricts the latter from making any announcements without the original team’s consent.
This understanding became a point of contention after Mohanlal announced his film’s shooting, leading to complications in the Hindi team’s announcement.
Upcoming Projects for Paresh Rawal
Paresh was recently featured in the horror-comedy *Thamma*, sharing the screen with Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, directed by Aditya Sarpotdar. He has several projects on the horizon, including *Hera Pheri 3*, *The Taj Story*, *Bhooth Bangla*, and *Welcome To The Jungle*.
