Nintendo Expands in Southeast Asia with New Singapore Unit and Upcoming Thailand Office

On September 30, noted Japanese gaming giant Nintendo announced via its website that a new entity has been established in Singapore.
Nintendo Singapore Pte Ltd, designed to enhance the company’s presence in Southeast Asia, has a capital investment of S$8 million. The entity is led by Takahiro Miura, who also serves as CEO of Nintendo Korea.
In addition, Nintendo plans to establish a presence in Thailand shortly.
2025 has proven to be a remarkable year for Nintendo, marked by the successful launch of the Nintendo Switch 2. Within just four days post-launch, over 3.5 million units were sold, making it the company’s fastest-selling console ever.
Nintendo also anticipates selling 15 million units of the Switch 2 in the fiscal year ending in March 2026.
In terms of film production, Nintendo will continue its partnership with Illumination for the upcoming Super Mario Galaxy Movie, which is slated for release in April 2026.
This sequel to the 2023 hit, The Super Mario Bros Movie, which became the first video game-based film to earn over US$1 billion, will see Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Charlie Day returning as Mario, Princess Peach, and Luigi, respectively.
