New South Whales Unveils Fresh Single and Reveals Upcoming Album

These New South Whales have just unveiled the title track from their forthcoming album, GODSPEED.

This new single, “GODSPEED,” blends elements of new wave, melodic hardcore, and Britpop, and serves as a pivotal piece of the album, which is set to be released independently on November 28th.

Their latest work draws inspiration from a diverse array of influences, spanning ’80s ballads, British guitar pop, and intense hardcore. Throughout their journey, These New South Whales have successfully walked the fine line between stark reality and comic relief, remaining faithful to their roots and the genre’s anti-establishment spirit. They describe GODSPEED as a deeply personal yet politically charged anthem.

GODSPEED is about returning to your true self, living authentically, embracing your independence, and trusting your intuition,” expressed lead vocalist Jamie Timony.

He continued, “It highlights freedom, self-sufficiency, and the importance of rejecting groupthink and fake authority. Especially now, we need to distinguish truth from deception and confront power—no matter how daunting it may seem—with love, which can be quite challenging!”

The band collaborated closely with producer and punk figure Ben Greenberg, who noted their dedicated approach. “They entered the studio with a clear intention to evolve and challenge themselves,” he remarked.

“That energy is palpable in each recording, making it a distinctly memorable experience,” Greenberg added.

The newly released title track is accompanied by an official video that showcases both intense and softer moments. Rather than taking themselves too seriously, the track remains vibrant and engaging, promising a “damn good time.”

Timony’s personal journey through Alcoholics Anonymous has influenced the song’s message. “While I prefer not to impose meaning on any song, for me, the lyrics of ‘GODSPEED’ reflect the joy I experienced after leaving AA after nine years,” he shared.

“When you enter AA, you’re often told you’re terminally ill, that your condition requires a spiritual experience for recovery. But what if people were simply told the truth? That they have the power to make better choices and aren’t inherently broken or doomed without adhering to the 12-step method?”

In addition to the album’s release, These New South Whales are gearing up for a series of Australian concerts, including performances in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Fremantle, and Adelaide throughout October and November.

You can now listen to “GODSPEED.” Pre-orders for the album GODSPEED are available. Tickets for the upcoming shows can also be purchased.
