My Chemical Romance Honors Smashing Pumpkins in Live Performance
During a recent concert at Oracle Park in San Francisco, My Chemical Romance paid a heartfelt tribute to the legendary Smashing Pumpkins. As a surprise addition to their Long Live the Black Parade tour, the emo punk band delivered an impressive cover of the Pumpkins’ iconic 1995 track “Bullet With Butterfly Wings.”
Standout Performance
Staying true to the original, My Chemical Romance offered a relatively traditional rendition of the song, which hails from the influential album Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. Frontman Gerard Way infused his unique style into Billy Corgan’s vocal delivery, giving fans something special to remember.
Upcoming Shows and Collaborations
The band is set to continue their tour with a performance on July 26 at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. August and September will see them hitting several more venues, sharing the stage with notable acts such as Garbage, Death Cab for Cutie, and Evanescence.
Recent Album Reissue
Last month, My Chemical Romance unveiled a deluxe reissue of their acclaimed album Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge. This edition features several previously unreleased live recordings, offering fans a treat. Among the bonus tracks are live performances of “I’m Not OK (I Promise),” “Helena,” and “The Ghost of You.”
Additionally, the collection includes a version of “You Know What They Do to Guys Like Us in Prison,” originally released as a B-side on a limited UK CD single of “I’m Not Okay.”
