Mia Wray Teams Up with Gabrielle Aplin for ‘Ghost in My Machine’ Collaboration
Mia Wray has unveiled a new duet version of “Ghost in My Machine,” which originally appeared on her debut album, hi, it’s nice to meet me, released in March. This fresh take features pop artist Gabrielle Aplin and was created while Wray was touring in the UK, with contributions from songwriters Seton Daunt (known for collaborations with Kylie Minogue and 5 Seconds of Summer) and Ash Howes (who has worked with Ellie Goulding and One Direction).
Reflecting on this collaboration, Wray expressed her gratitude, saying, “I’m still pinching myself that I have been lucky enough to collaborate with such a brilliant writer that is Gabrielle Aplin. I’ve admired her artistry since I was 14 years old, so having her on this song we co-created is incredibly special and something I will cherish for a long time.”
Aplin echoed Wray’s sentiments, revealing her own excitement about the project. “I’m really excited Mia asked me to feature on this song with her. Ghost in My Machine is the last track we worked on for the album during her tour in the UK, and it was just fun and easy — as it should always be with Mia!”
This collaboration marks a crucial time in Wray’s journey as an artist. Her debut album received notable international acclaim, drawing attention from multiple radio stations including triple j and BBC Radio 1 & 2. Additionally, she received endorsements from high-profile figures like John Mayer and Sir Elton John. The positive reception has led to impressive streaming figures, with her music amassing over 50 million streams globally.
Looking ahead, Wray is set to tour with Spacey Jane on a 13-date UK and European tour this October. Following this, she will return to Australia for the Handpicked Festival and Spilt Milk performances. “Ghost in My Machine” is just the start of what promises to be an exciting chapter ahead for Mia Wray.
“Ghost in My Machine” is now available through Mushroom Music.
