Mastodon Honors Brent Hinds at Alaska Concert: ‘Brothers to the End’

## Mastodon Honors Brent Hinds in Emotional Tribute
Mastodon recently paid heartfelt tributes to their co-founder and former guitarist, Brent Hinds, during a performance at the Alaska State Fair in Palmer, Alaska. This show marked their first since Hinds tragically passed away at the age of 51 on Wednesday.
### Remembering a Creative Soul
Drummer Brann Dailor expressed deep sorrow over the loss of Hinds. “We lost somebody very special to us yesterday,” he said, referring to the motorcycle accident that claimed Hinds’ life. He described him as a “one of the most creative, beautiful people” they had encountered, lamenting the untimely end of their 25-year journey together.
Dailor shared, “We loved him so, so very much. We had the ups and downs of a 25-year relationship, but we were brothers to the end.” His tribute, delivered at the conclusion of their set, moved many in attendance, as footage captured the emotional moment. “We made a lot of beautiful music together,” he added, emphasizing the lasting impact of their work.
### Celebrating a Lifelong Bond
Dailor continued to reflect on their shared experiences, stating, “He helped us make the music that defined this band.” He recounted their adventures, from touring the world to humorous memories like sleeping in cramped conditions and excessive partying.
Despite the sadness, he expressed gratitude for the audience’s support: “You made it OK for us to come on stage and do this tonight. So that was for Brent, thank you so much.”
### A Legacy Remembered
Hinds co-founded the Grammy-winning band in 2000 alongside bassist Troy Sanders, guitarist Bill Kelliher, and drummer Dailor. Earlier this year, the band announced their separation from Hinds, with the guitarist later claiming that he was dismissed from the group.
Mastodon shared on social media expressing their “unfathomable sadness” over the loss, stating they were heartbroken and still processing the impact of losing such a significant creative force in their lives.
