Manjula Ghattamaneni on Daughter Jaanvi Swarup’s Tollywood Launch
In an exclusive conversation, Manjula Ghattamaneni reflects on her daughter Jaanvi Swarup’s debut in Tollywood and the family legacy.
The Ghattamaneni family introduces its third generation of actors, including Jaanvi Swarup. In an interview, her mother, Manjula Ghattamaneni, expresses confidence in Jaanvi’s readiness, noting her lineage—having a superstar grandfather, Krishna, and an uncle, Mahesh Babu. Manjula assures that Jaanvi is grounded and prepared for her cinematic journey.
‘Wanted Jaanvi to have a normal life before debut’
Manjula is not surprised by Jaanvi’s interest in acting. “Even at age ten, she showed a natural talent during her role in Manasuku Nachindi (2018, which I directed). I recognized her potential but chose to allow her to lead a normal life without unnecessary pressure,” she reflects.
Throughout her childhood in Chennai, Manjula aimed to shield her from the limelight. “I wanted her to enjoy a regular upbringing, so we stay away from events. Yet, over the years, I noticed Jaanvi’s growing enthusiasm for a career in acting,” she shared.
‘Jaanvi doesn’t need our advice, she’s sorted’
Despite efforts to keep Jaanvi distant from the film industry, she was still influenced by her family’s legacy. Knowing the success her mother and father achieved in the industry, along with her grandfather’s iconic status, she is aware of the family expectations. However, Manjula emphasizes that Jaanvi is taking her own steps.
Jaanvi’s journey into Tollywood is uniquely her own. Manjula respects her daughter’s decisions and has faith that she can navigate her path successfully without constant guidance.
‘We are all blessed because of my father’
In the Ghattamaneni family, the cinematic legacy runs deep. Manjula acknowledges that their achievements stem from her father, Krishna. “We owe our opportunities to him. His legacy is not just in films but in the affection and respect he garnered,” she expressed.
“Every upcoming generation of actors in our family requires an abundance of blessings. We feel fortunate to have Krishna’s legacy guiding us, and it opens doors for Jaanvi today,” she concluded.
Do you think Jaanvi Swarup will make a significant impact in the Tollywood film industry?
