Lucky Ali Apologizes for Insulting Javed Akhtar: A Controversial Exchange
Lucky Ali recently issued a controversial apology after making unflattering comments about lyricist Javed Akhtar amid discussions on religious topics.
The well-known singer-songwriter Lucky Ali “apologised” for his sharp remarks directed at veteran lyricist Javed Akhtar, albeit with a hint of sarcasm. His comments followed the resurfacing of a video featuring Akhtar discussing sensitive topics related to religion.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Ali wrote, “What I meant was that arrogance is ugly… it was a mistaken communique on my part… monsters may have feelings too, and I apologise if I hurt anyone’s monstrosity….”
His post followed a viral video of Javed Akhtar, which sparked heated discussions online. Earlier, Ali had commented sharply, “Don’t become like Javed Akhtar, never original and ugly as f**k…” This comment quickly garnered attention due to its boldness.
The clip that stirred up Ali’s reaction featured Akhtar reflecting on changing cultural sensitivities while recalling a famous scene from the movie Sholay, which he co-wrote with Salim Khan. Akhtar remarked, “In Sholay, there was a scene where Dharmendra hides behind Shiv ji’s murti. Is it possible to have a scene like this today? No, I would not write such a scene today.”
Ali also added, “I’m on record; I said, ‘Don’t become like Muslims. Make them like yourself. You are becoming like Muslims.’ It’s a tragedy.”
Both Lucky Ali and Javed Akhtar have been approached for comments on this unfolding situation.
