Lin-Manuel Miranda and Jimmy Fallon’s Fun Classroom ‘Hamilton’ Medley

Lin-Manuel Miranda Appears on The Tonight Show
Lin-Manuel Miranda recently made an appearance on The Tonight Show to talk about the journey of Hamilton as it prepares to hit movie theaters. During this visit, he entertained the audience with a creative medley of songs from the musical, using various classroom instruments.
Performance Highlights
Accompanying Miranda were host Jimmy Fallon and the house band, the Roots. The lively performance featured beloved songs such as “Alexander Hamilton” and “My Shot.” Everyone in the group sported costumes and utilized classic childhood instruments like triangles and kazoos, adding a playful twist to the show.
Reflecting on a Milestone
In a conversation with Fallon, Miranda shared his thoughts on the 10th anniversary of Hamilton’s Broadway debut. He expressed his relief at finally sharing the musical with the world after investing seven years in its creation. “It took me like seven years to write this thing… I’m just incredibly proud,” Miranda said.
Recalling a memorable moment, he shared the experience of Prince attending a performance. Unfortunately, Miranda couldn’t celebrate with the cast that night, as he was DJing at a friend’s wedding. He humorously lamented, “The entire cast was up all night partying with Prince… It’s the FOMO of my life.”
Upcoming Movie Release
Miranda also revealed that Hamilton will be heading to movie theaters on September 5. The filmed version of the musical, featuring most of the original cast, was shot back in 2016. Despite plans for a theatrical release, the pandemic shifted the initial strategy, leading to a streaming release so audiences could enjoy it at home.
Now, fans can look forward to experiencing Hamilton on the big screen in theaters across the country and in Puerto Rico.
The Journey of Hamilton
The filmed version of Hamilton premiered on Disney+ in July 2020, even earlier than originally intended. This production captures the live performance of the Broadway show and truly showcases the talent of its original cast. The show’s anniversary was celebrated in June with a special reunion performance at the Tony Awards.
Since its opening on Broadway on August 6, 2015, Hamilton has received numerous accolades, including 11 Tony Awards, the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, a Grammy Award, and an Olivier.
