LE SSERAFIM’s Agency and Min Hee Jin: July Hearing Set for KakaoTalk Dispute

Source Music has initiated legal proceedings against former ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin for damages amounting to 500 million KRW. The third hearing was scheduled for June 27 but has been postponed to next month due to a disagreement over the admissibility of KakaoTalk messages as evidence, according to K-media outlet MHN Sports. Both parties failed to reach an agreement, leading to the rescheduling of the hearing.

Arguments from Min Hee Jin’s Legal Team

As part of their defense, Min Hee Jin’s legal team contested the evidence presented by Source Music. The agency intended to unveil a 20-minute presentation, including documentation and KakaoTalk messages that allegedly support their claims. However, the defense argued that these messages were collected unlawfully, lacking the necessary consent for their use in court.

Rescheduled Hearing Date for Min Hee Jin vs Source Music

The Seoul Western District Court recognized the concerns raised by the former ADOR CEO regarding the legal standing of the KakaoTalk messages. As a result, the court has set a new hearing date for July 18, aiming to coordinate it with a related lawsuit involving BELIFT LAB.

Changes in Min Hee Jin vs BELIFT LAB Hearing

In a similar twist, the Min Hee Jin vs BELIFT LAB case has also been impacted. The court mandated that the plaintiff’s evidence be limited to a 30-slide PowerPoint presentation. This case revolves around allegations that BELIFT LAB’s ILIIT group has copied concepts from NewJeans, which Min Hee Jin previously claimed to have developed. Consequently, the second hearing has been pushed back from April to July 18.

Additionally, Min Hee Jin is currently involved in a separate legal matter with ADOR, where she asserts that she was instrumental in forming NewJeans and directing their rise to international recognition, yet feels she has not received the acknowledgment she deserves.
